Gahlen Carpenter and William "Howie" Olund founded SSCS in 1988 under the name Solid Systems CAD Services. At the time, computer aided design (CAD) was a thriving part of enterprise IT and Carpenter and Olund set their sights on the Intergraph platform as a market that would be receptive to third party maintenance practices. They were right, and from this technology platform they orchestrated expansion into virtually all major manufacturer’s equipment.
From the outset SSCS had a culture that was based on a fierce loyalty to the client and a deep sympathy for the restrictive policies of the OEMs. By employing only highly skilled technical personnel that shared the same dedication to service, the founders began assembling a world class team of talented professionals – and the company grew. Under the founder’s leadership the company acquired and has retained as clients the likes of General Motors, Royal Dutch Shell, The Boeing Company, Raytheon, Canon USA, United Space Alliance, T-Systems, and many more.
Carpenter and Olund continue to set the agenda for management while providing leadership towards a “one team” attitude for the global company, an emphasis on continuous improvement, and a passion for excellence in service delivery. The SSCS culture still thrives today with Howie and Gahlen as the company figureheads and the cultural foundation of the business.
